What Types of Stun Guns Are Available?

Stun guns are by far the most widely used self defense products available in the market today. This is due to their ease of use, affordability, effectiveness, and availability 38 special ammo  in countless shapes, sizes and variations. More importantly, they are non-lethal, which means that using them will not subject you being charged for criminal offense against your potential attacker.

A stun gun operates on a high-voltage and low-current electrical discharge, which enables it to inflict significant pain and discomfort to the attacker’s neuromuscular system, which will cause them to be temporary unable to move or function properly. Not only are stun guns available in the traditional form, resembling guns or batons, but they are also available in more advanced shapes and size, including but not limited to pens, lipsticks, flashlights and cell phones.

Generally speaking, there are three types of stun guns. The first is known as the static charge gun, which is used to immobilize assaulters using a static electric charge. The second is known as the phase induction gun, which delivers faster and more powerful results using less voltage. The third type is the T-Wave gun, which temporarily disrupts the attacker’s brain signals to the body through an electric current with Electro-Muscular Disruption (EMD) technology.

Static charge stun guns operate on a voltage between 80,000 and 625,000 volts, whereas phase induction guns run on a voltage that lies between 100,000 and 625,000 volts, and deliver far more efficient and effective shock delivery to the attacker’s body. A stun gun using phase induction technology is claimed to offer the same shock strength as that of a higher voltage static charge stun gun.
